If you’re planning a fall move, or if it has come up unexpectedly, you’re in luck: fall is an awesome time to move. The busy and often expensive summer season has come and gone, lower prices, lower temperatures, and lower competition all work in your favor. Here are a few tips to make your move safe and efficient.
Follow the weather forecast
Although the weather forecast can change at any given time, it’s still highly recommended to follow it as closely as possible when moving day is approaching.
Wrap your furniture to keep away rain
All furniture should be well wrapped especially if they’re going to be on the road for a few days. Plastic wrap, blankets and cardboard boxes should not be spared here.
Always take necessary safety precautions
Think about the common weather conditions that occur within your area and take the necessary safety precautions. If your area tends to get a lot of rain, trade in your running shoes for non-slip work boots and lay down some cardboard on your new floors.
Clear pathways
Autumn is full of beautiful multicolored leaves that are enjoyable during a brisk walk around the neighborhood but cumbersome when trying to move boxes. Set your broom near the door on moving day. Before anyone starts walking boxes to the car or truck, sweep aside leaves and other debris that have fallen across the sidewalk
Dress appropriately
Set out an outfit that will be comfortable for moving boxes all day. Shorts are probably a little too airy for this time of year, but a sweatshirt might make you sweaty. Go with a happy medium by donning layers. Find something that will keep you warm, but is still light enough for hard work.
Moving during the fall season can be the best. The weather isn’t too hot, nor is it too cold and you have a nice breeze to keep you cool throughout the day. If you follow these fall moving tips, you’ll be ready to take whatever the wind blows in.
