Moving will require some boxes but you can cut down on the amount of cardboard boxes used by using reusable plastic storage bins and suitcases you already have to pack some of your belongings. When you move locally, we provide wardrobe boxes to move your clothing from the wardrobe closet.

Using shipping boxes received

Online shopping has become a standard part of modern life. If you have a move coming up, be sure to start saving some of the boxes you receive with your online orders. A great way to store them would be to break them down and store them out of sight until it is time to use them.

Get used boxes

Neighborhood community groups in social media or Apps like Next door are great sources to get used boxes. Be sure to check/ post to see if anyone has used boxes you could pick up.

Be creative

Creative use of simple household items such as towels, linens, comforters, clothing and even newspaper can be used as packing material. When packing fragile items such as glassware, china etc, towels and newspaper can be used to fill empty spaces in the boxes.

Donate unwanted items

A move is a perfect time to purge and get rid of unwanted items. Having less will help make  your move simple and streamlined. For items that can be sold, consider yard sale. You can also consider donating items that dont sell to a local charity. This will ensure that any unwanted items get a second life and reduce their chance of ending up in a landfill.
